Bruised legs with a wire
Driving home drunk,
Eyes focused on the white line.
Striving to make
Someone else happy.
Struggling to find
Feeling the need to
Protect a part of me.
Loving me and all
My life lessons.
Building and nurturing
Comfortable in my own skin.
Recognizing that the pain
Is not my own.

This piece was inspired by a prompt from Zachary Kluckman during the April 28, 2019 Workshop.
We had a lovely workshop last Sunday, August 25th! Thank you so everyone who attended.
We used art from Strangeflock Gallery’s current show to inspire the creation of characters and then allowed the artwork to inspire direction of those characters.
There was almost 45 minutes of no noise other than the sound of pen to page. It was glorious.
If you participated and created something you would like to share, please don’t forget to send it in for possible publication. Click here for submission instructions. Our first publication will be live on the website on September 4th. Be sure to check it out, comment, and share. This is how our group will grow.
Our next workshop is scheduled for September 29th, where we will be inspired by the show “Kindred,” a mixed media show featuring all women artists. You can check out the show during their Opening reception: First Flock Friday, Sept. 6th from 5:30-8:30, or weekends throughout the month of September.
We hope to see you next month to find some inspiration and direction in your writing.
Please join us for the next edition of the Gold Writing Group hosted by Swimming with Elephants Publications and Strangeflock Gallery taking place on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
The Gallery will be open from 12pm – 4pm with a writing workshop taking place between the hours of 1pm – 3pm. You do not have to participate in the workshop to attend the gallery, view the art, or do self directed ekphrastic writing.
Suggestion donation for the workshop is 5$, and all proceeds from August’s workshop will go toward starting our Gold Writing Group Website. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Writers of all genres are invited to be inspired by the monthly artwork in the gallery or partake in a more constructed workshop hosted by local and national guest writers.
This month Strangeflock Gallery is hosting the show “Post: An After Graduate Show” and the workshop will be hosted by writer and educator, Katrina K Guarascio.
